To many, Jennifer Lawrence is the brave Katniss Everdeen from District 12 in “The Hunger Games,” but for Hollywood, she will always be best remembered as one of the top-earning actresses who shook the industry’s misogynist standards
With her awkwardness and straight-to-the-point attitude, one would assume that J. Law, her moniker for her fans, would not settle for less. The Oscar-winning actress started negotiations about the increase in her pay following the blockbuster success of the first movie adaptation of “The Hunger Games” trilogy. It just makes sense since the whole plot of the dystopian science-fiction novel revolves around Lawrence’s character. After the said talks, Forbes reported that she earned $46 million before taxes and fees through June of 2018.
Hollywood’s ‘Girl on Fire’
Lawrence, the two-time highest-paid actress, and face of the campaign against the gender wage gap in Hollywood is the living proof that women in show business should never settle for less. Especially when they work just as much, if not more than their male contemporaries. J. Law became Hollywood’s very own “Girl on Fire” as she struck on every career opportunity, especially with the barrage of films coming her way, each showcasing her remarkable acting skills more than the other.
While her sweet talks in the show business brought her millions, the “Joy” actress’ skills in real estate business may need more foraging as her starter condominium in Santa Monica, California, was sold for over a million. The house, which was originally marked $1.169 million, was bought for $1.15 million dollars, almost $20,000 less than what it was listed a month and a half before. This gave the actress a $280,000 profit from when she bought the property in August 2006.
This was before her first Academy nod for “Winter’s Bone” in 2011 and before finally grabbing the Oscar two years later for “Silver Linings Playbook,” which was released in 2012.
Quaint Home for A Hollywood’s New Cynosure
The two-bedroom house stands at a 1,413-square-foot lot, quite quaint for the now Hollywood A-lister. The former J. Law abode, which was also 20 blocks away from the nearest beach, has a direct-entry two-car garage. Once inside, the starter condo will welcome you with an angled living room complete with a fireplace beside glass sliding doors. Its ceiling has a standard recessed light fixture that was matched with its wide-plank hardwood floors.
The open-concept dining room and U-shaped kitchen were also apt for her then-budding career with its simplicity and sub-par cupboards and cabinets, basic granite kitchen slabs, stainless steel dishwasher, oven range, and a spacious refrigerator. Inside the dining area are two glass sliding doors leading directly to a somewhat cramp patio with private fencing but a rather disappointing view.
The bedrooms upstairs, both having their own separate bathroom, feel quite large with a vaulted ceiling in the master bedroom and raised the ceiling in the second one. The former also has a small private balcony and a spacious bathroom complete with a matching all-white checkerboard floor tiles and marble countertops.
Celebrity-grade Beverly Hills Home
There are no reports as to when Lawrence last lived in this house but in 2014, the “X-Men: Apocalypse” star bought an $8.225-million house in the guard-gated Beverly Hills, a major upgrade from her former Santa Monica home. Though originally listed for $7.85 million, Lawrence paid for an additional $375,000 for the structure that was formerly owned by media magnate Sumner Redstone’s former sweetheart, Sydney Holland.
Prominent previous owners of this five-bedroom pad include Jessica Simpson, Ellen DeGeneres, Rick Yorn, Paul Hogan, and Tom Freston, which just shows that there was high demand for the property. The new J. Law home is a 5,500-square-foot house, complete with wooden and marble floors, winding staircase, and French-inspired wall moldings.
This was indeed a revamp for the “Passengers” actress for the house also boasts a koi pond, a swimming pool, a to-die-for walk-in closet, a gourmet kitchen, and a gym. The bathrooms are also as glamorous as the celebrated actress with their vertical wall panels, footed bathtubs, and marble countertops.
The celebrity-grade house was also surrounded by famous neighbors such as Cameron Diaz, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, and Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem. Country star Keith Urban and his wife, award-winning actress Nicole Kidman, and British siren Adele are also one of her star neighbors.
