Kate Hudson has made it clear—her famous family will never step into the world of reality television. During the Los Angeles premiere of her new Netflix comedy series “Running Point,” she shut down the possibility of a reality show featuring her iconic relatives.
Why a Reality Show Is Not an Option
When asked by “Entertainment Tonight” if her family— including Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell, Oliver Hudson, Boston Russell, and Wyatt Russell—would ever consider filming a reality series, Kate had a simple answer – “It’ll never happen.”
She added that her stepfather, Kurt Russell, prefers a quieter life away from the cameras. “Listen, my dad, he’s just too cool. He’d rather just be in Colorado just being dad… Snake Plissken doesn’t do reality,” she joked, referencing Kurt’s legendary role in “Escape from New York” and “Escape from L.A.”.

While fans might love a behind-the-scenes look at their dynamic family, Kate’s firm response makes it clear that reality TV isn’t in the cards.
Kate Hudson’s Latest Project
Even though a reality series won’t happen, Kate has kept her family in the loop about her latest project. In “Running Point,” she plays Isla Gordon, a woman unexpectedly appointed to run her family’s professional basketball team, the Los Angeles Waves.
The series features an impressive cast, including Brenda Song, who plays the team’s chief of staff and Isla’s best friend. Other stars include Justin Theroux, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks, Jay Ellis, and Max Greenfield. On February 27, the series will debut on Netflix.
Brenda Song’s Unforgettable Encounter With Goldie Hawn
Brenda Song shared a memorable moment from working with Kate during an episode of the “Sibling Revelry” podcast hosted by Kate and Oliver Hudson. She admitted feeling starstruck while acting alongside Kate. “Sometimes I’d be in a scene, and I’d think, ‘I’m doing a scene with Kate Hudson. What is my life?'”
But the biggest surprise came when Kate introduced Brenda to Goldie Hawn via FaceTime. Brenda described the experience as “one of the craziest moments,” saying she needed a moment to process before speaking to the Hollywood icon.
“Kate was FaceTiming, and she said, ‘Oh, wait… Mama, I want you to meet Brenda, who plays my best friend [on Running Point],” Brenda recalled. “I was like—don’t put me on the spot like this. I needed a second before getting on a FaceTime with Goldie freaking Hawn.”
Kate and Danny Stunning Red Carpet Appearance

Kate arrived at the “Running Point” premiere alongside her fiancé, musician Danny Fujikawa. She turned heads in a champagne satin gown by Roberto Cavalli, accessorized with a silver diamond necklace featuring a pink jewel at the center. She also wore a statement ring on each hand.
Danny Fujikawa complemented her look with a black suit jacket and a crisp white shirt, making them one of the most stylish couples at the event.
What “Running Point” Is All About
In “Running Point,” Kate’s character, Isla Gordon, must prove herself as the right person to lead her family’s basketball team. She faces skepticism from her brothers, the board, and the larger sports community, making her journey a battle for respect and success.
With a mix of humor, sports drama, and family dynamics, the show is set to entertain audiences when it hits Netflix.
A Star-Studded Family That Prefers Privacy
Despite their Hollywood fame, Kate Hudson’s family values privacy. While many celebrity families embrace reality TV, Kate and her loved ones prefer to keep their personal lives off-screen.
For now, fans will have to settle for seeing Kate in scripted projects rather than a reality series featuring the Hudson-Russell clan. With “Running Point” set to make waves, Kate continues to shine on her own terms.
