If you grew up in the 80s or 90s, your life would have been incomplete without Full House. And with the adoration for the sitcom came the adoration for the witty and sarcastic character, Rebecca Donaldson-Katsopolis, played by Lori Loughlin.
What Has Lori Gotten Herself Into?
The famed actress and producer has just reported to prison in the case of a college admission scandal. She was convicted for her role in the scandal earlier in May and is now obliged to serve 2 months in prison.
Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo, pleaded guilty on 22nd May. Loughlin admitted to her involvement in one count of wire and mail fraud, while Mossimo admitted to one count of honest services and wire and mail, in addition. They were amongst the 5 wealthy families who weaved their children’s way into prestigious universities through bribes.
According to legal sources, Lori was due to report to the prison latest by 19th November 2020. However, she decided to serve her imprisonment earlier in the hope of being released by the year-end.
A Deeper Look Inside the Scandal
The two daughters, Olivia Jade Giannulli and Isabella Rose Giannulli, have falsely designated recruits of the crew team of the University of Southern California. Due to the criminal complaint lodged against the Giannulli couple, they were entitled to pay $500,000 to Key Worldwide Foundation and Rick Singer.
Loughlin regretted her action by stating it as “… an awful decision.” After she was sentenced to two-month imprisonment, she admitted to the judge that she was blinded by the love for her daughters; therefore, she ignored her intuitions and planned to give an unsuitable advantage to them. She repented on the fact that this step did her no good; in fact, it undermined the true potential and actual capabilities of her daughters.
The 56-year-old star pleaded guilty on 21st August this year and was accused of paying a fine of $150,000 and serve the community for 150 hours. In comparison, the 57-year-old fashion designer, Loughlin’s husband, was entitled to a fine of $250,000 and to serve the community for 250 hours. He has to report to prison for 5 months.
The Insider writes that this mistake will hopefully turn Loughlin into a better person. She must have learned from her experience as she seems humiliated. She faces her sentence with resolve and dreads how the tables were turned, while her expectations were quite the opposite. Sources claim that it will not be that easy for her to move on, being the Full House star, but the actress will gradually be able to leave this all behind her when the New Year 2021 starts.
Sources state, “….she will definitely be home by the upcoming new year.”
