Elon Musk is one great tech genius, which is why he has so many fans, but despite his talents, the SpaceX founder has made outrageous claims that are often aired on social media for everyone to see. His latest eyebrow-raising statement is about the Egyptian pyramids.
On Pyramids
The Tesla founder recently surprised his Twitter followers when he said that pyramids in Egypt were obviously made by aliens. It got at least 500,000 likes although it wasn’t clear if these ‘fans’ found his statement amusing or if they agreed with his sentiment.
Because of Elon’s claims, it caught the eye of one of the top officials of Egypt. Rania al-Mashat, minister of internal cooperation, took to Twitter to express her admiration for the investor’s works and to invite him and his team to see the writings about how these historical landmarks were made and to also check the pyramid builders’ tombs.
It could have been a subtle clapback, which prompted Elon to reply with a link to a BBC article that explains the builders’ lives. However, it wasn’t only Rania who got curious about the influential man’s tweet as even Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass joined the conversation.
The expert, who found the tombs of the builders in Giza, called Elon’s belief a ‘complete hallucination.’ According to an EgyptToday report, Zahi said that the ones who built the pyramids were Egyptians and weren’t slaves.
Alien Theory?
It is unclear what Elon’s motivations were in sharing that sentiment, or if he was simply trying to be funny, but it wasn’t the first time that someone toyed on the idea that aliens built the pyramids. The ‘Ancient-Astronauts Theory,’ which is unfounded and unsubstantiated, claims that intelligent aliens created the landmarks when they visited the Earth in prehistoric times.
Other Controversial Remarks
If you truly follow Elon’s every move, then his pyramid tweet may not have come as a shocker. After all, he has a habit of sharing controversial statements.
According to his biography written by Ashlee Vance, Elon previously said that he wished he didn’t have to eat so that he could have more time to work. He also hoped that there was a way that he could get the needed nutrients without him sitting down for a meal.
He also thought that public transportation is painful because you have to ride on something with so many people. He also pointed out the hassles of it, making people dub him as privileged.
