Unfolding Prince Harry’s interview
On Thursday, February 25, 2021, Prince Harry appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden. The interview aired just days after Buckingham Palace released a statement revealing that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry won’t return as working royal members.
While talking to Corden, Harry cleared that he’ll never walk away from the royal family or avoid helping others. He stated that it was never about walking away or stepping down from royal duties.
He wanted to relieve the pressure from the British press and England’s environment, which was disturbing his mental health. From a husband and father’s viewpoint, he thought moving the family away from the toxic environment was the call of the hour.
The Duke of Sussex refuted Queen Elizabeth’s statement where she’d decreed that by stepping away from royal duties, Harry and Meghan won’t be able to enjoy a life of public service.
He informed Corden, a longtime friend who also attended his wedding, that he’ll stay just like he was while working in a royal capacity. Irrespective of whatever decisions were taken by the Queen, he said he’d continue contributing towards public service regardless of his location.

Buckingham Palace’s statement regarding Harry and Meghan’s roles came a year after the couple announced that they’d be stepping down from royal duties in March 2020. At the time, the palace had given them a year to rethink their choice, but it seems that they’ve made their decision. As part of the formal exit, now the duo will need to submit their patronages to the Queen, who would assign it to the other working royal members.
What the road ahead looks like…
After Queen Elizabeth’s conversation with Harry, which ended with her declaring that he and Meghan can’t perform public service duties without carrying out their responsibilities as royals, the duo had responded by saying that everyone is entitled to a life of service since it is universal.
As of now, Prince Harry is enjoying family time with his wife Meghan Markle and son Archie Harrison at his California abode. As per reports, the couple is mostly staying at home and preparing for their second child. It’s believed that ever since the tragic miscarriage, the couple is staying extra cautious about the unborn baby.
