Last Sunday, many countries across the globe celebrated Mother’s Day. Some posted pictures of their moms on social media with sweet messages, others cooked yummy meals, and the rest brought fancy gifts or flowers for their mothers.
However, unlike them, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex honored a local charity named Harvest Home, which caters to the needs of homeless expectant mothers in L.A.
Giving a glimpse of their touching gesture, they released a page-long statement on the Archewell Foundation website. Here’s a quick look inside their letter.
A peek inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s note
The letter declared that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex hope to show kindness in their actions, back active communities, and create a better future with the help of the Archewell Foundation. It revealed that they aim to back parents in need of emotional and financial assistance to raise a prosperous family. It also opened up about how their foundation is helping them achieve this goal.
Giving insights into the foundation’s latest collaboration with Procter & Gamble, the statement disclosed their initiatives for Harvest Home. It informed that the organization had donated a year-long supply of diapers and cleaning products for their existing and upcoming facilities. While concluding, it wished all mothers a “Happy Mother’s Day” and requested people to support them in every community in the coming years.
A throwback to Meghan’s first Mother’s Day Celebration
This year Meghan felt on top of the world while celebrating Mother’s Day as she’s expecting to deliver a baby girl in summer. FYI, she’s already a proud mother to 2-year-old Archie Mountbatten. In 2018 when Archie was born, Meghan and Harry celebrated Mother’s Day by sharing a picture of him on Instagram.
In the snap, Meghan cradled Archie’s little feet while posing in front of some forget-me-nots. It’s believed that she paid tribute to Princess Diana, Harry’s late mother, by posing in front of her favorite flowers at the Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
The former actress even penned down a note for all the mothers around the world. She wrote that both she and her husband were honoring and celebrating every mother on this day. Naming a couple of countries celebrating Mother’s Day, she informed everyone that it was her first Mother’s Day as a mom.
She even shared a quote from “Lands” by Nayyirah Waheed. At that time, her mother, Doria Ragland, flew from Los Angeles during Easter Holidays to help her cope with her pregnancy. Since Meghan and Harry are currently staying in Montecito, it won’t be difficult for Ragland to visit them now too.
Meghan’s other initiatives
Recently, Meghan announced that she had written a children’s book named The Bench in honor of her husband. She said that the book explains the bond between her son and her husband, and it will be released on June 8, 2021.
During a press release, Meghan revealed that she had written a poem for Harry on Father’s Day, which later acted as a plot for the book.
